PRESENTATIONS
The scholars invited by FUNDACIÓN AUGE and the activities they held between 1.994 and 1.998 are listed below:
Raquel Hodara M.A.
She holds an M. A. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Mrs. Hodara is a specialist on Holocaust and Bibles Studies. She was one of the first renowned scholars visiting Mendoza. Her presentations were followed by a numerous audience, and they were based on a variety of topics:
*Non-Jewish who saved Jewish people during the Holocaust.
*Love and sex in Judaism.
*The Bible and the Art of Love.
*The Psychological Destruction of the Human Being in the Concentrations Camps.
Seminar organized by FUNDACIÓN AUGE and Asociación Psicoanalítica (Psychoanalitic Association).
Dr. Gustavo Perednik
He holds a Ph.D. degree. He was brought by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He dealt with the following topics:
*Jewish Self-hate
*Fascination on Jewish Literature in Borges y Shakespeare.
Nelly Hernández M.A.
A very well known Faculty Member at Facultad de Filosofía y Letras (School of Philosophy and Letters) from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. She had great success with her presentation on:
*The Death Sea Scrolls and the origins of Christianity.
Sociologist Daniel Bargman
He holds an MA from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is a faculty member of a university in Buenos Aires. He talked about:
*Immigration: Melting Pot or Pluralism.
Dr. Jaime Kapitulnik
He is a Facultative Member from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he lectures on Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at the School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine. He Was in charge of the opening presentation for the Annual Meeting of the Argentine Association of Dermatology held at Hospital Central Auditorium in Mendoza. He dealt with:
*New Research on scaring processes.
Dr. Mario Sznajder
He is a Faculty Member from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Political Sciences Department. He talked to a very numerous audience on the following topics:
*Human Rights in Democratization.
*The Reality of Present-day Israeli Community.
Dr. Samuel Scolnicov
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. He is the lead teacher of Greek Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Chairman of the World Association of Platonism Advocates. He was the first visiting scholar to a give a presentation at FUNDACIÓN AUGE. He dealt with the following topics:
*Athen and Jerusalem: two concepts of God, the World and Man.
*Education for Tradition and Contemporary Life: the Demand of a Pluralist World
Dr. Emmanuel Rice
Dr. Rice teaches Psychiatry at New York University. FUNDACIÓN AUGE specially invited him to lecture on:
*Freud, Religion and Science.
The audience consisted of various specialists in the field as well as general public. The renowned Buenos Aires specialist in the field Moisés Kijak and Gustavo Lipovetzky also attended Dr. Rice's presentation.
Mr. Naón Fisher
He is a Member of Junta de Estudios Históricos de Mendoza (Mendoza Board of Historical Studies). His presentation was centered on:
*Golda Meir, Life and Work.
Mrs. Fanny Kowiensky de Barchilón
Mrs. Barchilón, who is a Literature teacher and specialist on text analysis, gave a course on:
*Reading and Reflection: an approach to the Literary Text.
Dr. Jorge Bucay
Dr. Bucay is an outstanding Argentine psychoterapist who has written important books on his field an has offered workshops nationwide and abroad.
FUNDACIÓN AUGE and ALMA (Asociación de Lucha Mal de Alzeimer) organized this specialist's presentations and the subsequent workshops he directed on:
*Selfishness and Self-esteem.
*Griefs. How to deal with then.
ART
FUNDACIÓN AUGE foster all sort of artist expression. The institution hosts an ample range of plastic exhibitions.
Two rooms have been made suitable for such activities by the use of a special lighting and exhibition system.
Among the artistic display held at FUNDACIÓN AUGE, the following have been specially popular:
*The Secret. It was a picture exhibition of a piece made of masks inspired on the victims of the Holocaust.
*A display of painting and sculptures by Haydeé Peña y Lillo and Luis Pablo Conalbi.
*A representation of the play "Casa Matriz" by Diana Raznovich, featuring Mrs. Gladys Ravalle and Mrs. Diana Wol de Raij.
COURSES
FUNDACIÓN AUGE organizes annual courses on different academic fields. Ever since 1.998, a varied program on numerous topics has been designed to cater for the needs of a good part of a community eager for knowledge. The different areas covered by these courses, so far, are:
Hebrew: Rosana Solodky is in charge of this course. She graduated as a teacher from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem School for Foreign Teachers.
Watercolors: A course taught by Sandra Alonso, a graduate Art Teacher from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo School of Art.
Music, Piano, Organ and Flute: María Paz Iniesta teaches these group and/or individual courses destined both to children as well as to adults. Mrs. Iniesta graduated from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo School of Music.
Tango: Héctor Moreno is the teacher in charge of this course. Mr. Moreno is the Director of the Municipality of Mendoza City Ballet.
Home Economics Administration: Dr. Marta Cabezas teaches this course. Dr. Cabezas is a graduated from Universidad Nacioal de Cuyo School of Economy. She is a renowned faculty member both at Universidad Nacional de Cuyo and Universidad de Congreso.
Approaching the Theater: A workshop guided by Mrs. Gladys Ravalle, a well know local actress and theater director.
Workshops on Literature: Mrs. Fanny de Barchilón, a Literature teacher, is in charge of both workshops:
*Reflections on Universal Literature.
*An Interpretation on Greek Myths.
